Q & A with Betina Grosser

How would you describe your work?
I would say it mixes naif and surrealism; it has layers and one can dive as deep as they want.

Can you give us some insight into your process for creating your artworks?
Usually, I work with briefs, from clients or from my ideas. I collect visual references, create a concept and a color palette, and then start sketching. Having all aspects defined, I make the artworks, prints, or garments.
Is there a typical day in the studio or is every day different?
My work is rather dynamic as I design and create a variety of types of projects. Every day is different.

What inspires you when you are creating your artworks?
My life experience and cultural baggage. I love taking pictures anywhere I go and usually they help me through my creative process. Also my dreams.

What would your dream project/collaboration be (apart from working with Consequence of Change!?
My dream collab would be with Schiaparelli, designing garments, prints, and a lifestyle line.
Who are your favourite artists and why?
I'm a fan of impressionism because of the study of light and color and the dream-like quality the paintings have. Two painters with impressionist works I would highlight are Georgina de Albuquerque and Castagneto, both from Brazil.
