Q & A with Anna Cole

How would you describe your work?
I would describe my work as colourful, full of interlocking shapes and                    patterns. Its contemporary with some retro/mid century flare.
Can you give us some insight into your process for creating your artworks?
I start each piece on a digital level. I draw it up and play around with shapes/colours and patterns. I then draw it onto a canvas and paint away.
Is there a typical day in the studio or is every day different?
Everyday is different in the studio. Some days are filled with colour samples and paint pods everywhere, Its a mess. Other days I dont enter it because I dont feel creative or want to paint and lastly there are days where the studio is so clean and inviting. Its all a process when you think about it.
What inspires you when you are creating your artworks?
The music i listen to inspires me, these creative music geniuses are so creative and have worked so hard to be where they are today and that inspires me to work harder to ancheive my goals. Music plays a huge role when it comes to my work.
What would your dream project/collaboration be (apart from working with Consequence of Change!?
I'd love to collaborate with Mecca, I could list more but the list is endless.
Who are your favourite artists and why?
My favourite artists are Josef Albers, Van Gogh, Picasso etc and modern day artists like Madeleine Stamer, Kate Jansen, Formatics, Fleur woods, & Jen Sievers.
